Hydrant Flushing:  DPW personnel will be flushing the hydrants throughout the Township over the next few weeks. Residents may experience low water pressure when the hydrants are flushed in your area.  The water pressure will return to normal after the hydrants are flushed (Posted 10/12/17)

Port Huron Passenger Rail Station - Notice of Public Hearings:  The Blue Water Area Transit Commission (BWATC) received a federal grant to evaluate the existing passenger rail station and other potential locations within Port Huron and near the city's boundaries.  It is important to note that this project is a Pre-Feasibility Study which will precede any formal environmental process or NEPA process.  The goal for this phase is to identify potential options for site location(s) and determine what requirements may exist for a new or rehabilitated station.  This process seeks to include input from the community.  BWATC has no predetermined preference on which site(s) are feasible.  This study seeks to identify possible options for further study during a formal environmental process.

In an effort to get the community's input, we will be hosting two public hearings in Port Huron.  These hearings will be held in the auditorium at the St. Clair County building located at 200 Grand River, Port Huron.  The public hearings are scheduled on the following days/times to provide the optimum public access to provide input on the project.

Those dates/times are:

Thursday, October 19                      1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Thursday, October 26                      6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Anyone interested in participating in any of these public meetings are welcome.  The meetings will begin with a brief presentation followed by discussion and input from the public.  Please feel free to share this notice with your respective organizations and their members.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email them to:  Ron DeCook at:                                              ron.decook@decook-gps.com

Lapeer Road Construction:  Construction to reconstruct and widen Lapeer Road from Alger Road to just east of the I-94 overpass is scheduled to begin on September 11, 2017.  Work will include widening for a center-turn lane along with new asphalt surfacing, concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveways, ramps and new drainage.

The project will occur under a partial closure of Lapeer Road until November 17, 2017 to permit the construction of the widened roadway.  Eastbound Lapeer Road will be closed to traffic from Michigan Road to the I-94 overpass.  Westbound Lapeer Road will be maintained at all times.  The closure of Eastbound Lapeer Road will be maintained at all times.  The closure of Eastbound Lapeer Road will be continuous from September 11th to November 17th.  The posted detour for Eastbound Lapeer Road will be Michigan Road, Griswold Road and 32nd Street.

Access will be permitted to local traffic within the construction and closure zone, including homes and businesses, during the closure.  Local residents and emergency vehicles will have access to local properties on either side of the project.  Local residents are encouraged to plan for delays due to construction.  We request your cooperation and patience.
