Township Alerts Minimize

Free Fishing Clinic:  The 29th Annual Free Fishing Clinic for Kids will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at the William P. Thompson Pond (40th Street).  Free fishing poles and bait provided along with free hot dogs and drinks, a casting contest and informational booths(learn about fish identification, tying knots and more!)  Parking is provided in the Baker College lot to the west of the building.  This lot backs up to the pond grounds.  For more information and to register, call the Port Huron Township offices at (810) 987-6600 or click on the links. Sponsored by the Port Huron Township Recreation Board.

Port Huron Township Summer Rec:  Port Huron Township's Summer Rec program will run June 26, 2017 through August 4, 2017 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday through Friday at Beach Road Park.  The cost is $40 per child ages 5 through 14.  Registration will be held at Beach Road Park on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (Registrations once the program starts will also be accepted).  For more information call the Township at (810) 987-6600.

Office Closure Notice:  The Township office will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2017 in observance of Memorial Day. 

Final Adoption of Ordinances:  Listed below are copies of the ordinances approved by the Township Board at the May 15, 2017 board meeting and scheduled for final adoption at the June 19, 2017 Township Board meeting.  Each of the proposed ordinances have already been reviewed and recommended for approval by the Township Planning Commission and the St. Clair County Metropolitan Planning Commission:
Section 40-619 Schedule of Height RegulationsThis ordinance increases the allowable building height of structures from 2 1/2 stories to 5 stories in specific districts.
Section 40-699 Livestock: The ordinance as originally passed needed the dates required for submittal of information to the Planning Commission to be revised for better efficiency.
Section 40-786 Commercial and Recreational Vehicle Parking:  This ordinance provides clearer definitions and specifications for the regulation of the parking and use of these types of vehicles primarily in residential districts.
Section 40-854 Mixed Uses:  This ordinance increases the allowable amount of mixed uses in both B-3, General Business and I-Light Industrial from 30% and/or 1000 Sq. ft. to 40% in each, along with Special Use Approval requirements and use restrictions.
Section 40-666 Accessory Buildings and Structures and Schedule of Regulations:  This ordinance increases the allowable size of attached and detached accessory structures and provides more specific regulations regarding the number and type permitted.

City of Port Huron Summer Recreation Program:  In partnership with the City of Port Huron, residents of Port Huron Township can register for any of the Summer recreation programs offered through the City of Port Huron Summer Recreation Program and pay the same rate as residents of the City.  Registration is now open.  To view the brochure click on the link:
